Grand Staircase/Escalante
National Monument
The Grand Staircase / Escalante spans nearly 1.9 million acres of public lands in southern Utah. It is one of the most rugged remote areas in the continental United States and was the last area in the country to be mapped.
Access to this landscape is provided through few unmaintained or rarely maintained dirt roads and unmarked hiking trails.
Located within its boundry lies the Kodachrome State Park.
